  A 100% Gauze fabric pad with sealed edges and a tail/tape for easy handling, used in surgical procedures on the abdomen. Laparotomy sponges are highly absorbent, designed to absorb fluids around the surgical field to enhance visualization and can also be used to apply pressure and stop bleeding
